Review: Character Toys have come out with a new range of Peppa Pig toys with a fairytale theme; Once Upon a Time. We were sent a number of toys from the new Peppa Pig Once Upon a Time range, including the Tea Party Playset (£14.99), the Pumpkin Carriage (£14.99), the Castle Playset (£19.99), and the Story Time Figure Pack (£9.99).
The girls were really excited when these toys arrived and couldn’t wait to start playing. They have been having a lot of fun with these, and Lydia in particular has been getting them out to play with a lot. The concept of these toys is lovely and Peppa and her friends are instantly recognisably dressed up as various fairytale characters, including a Jack & the Beanstalk George, a Bo-Peep Peppa, and a Fairy Suzy.

All of the figures are articulated, with moveable arms and legs. The seats in the tea time pack and on the pumpkin carriage are cleverly designed to snugly fit both the smaller George characters and the larger characters too. We did have a little bit of a problem with the tea party chairs falling over backwards a bit easily if nobody was sat on them, whenever they weren’t on a completely flat surface.
The seats on the pumpkin twirl around as you push it around which both girls think is fab, and on the castle the drawbridge goes up and down, and the portcullis too – there is plenty to play with. Fun accessories like a box of magic beans and a story book add extra elements to the imaginative play the girls have been enjoying with these sets.

These Peppa Pig toys are made from decent quality plastic – they don’t feel like they are going to snap in your hands like some flimsier toys do. They are great sets to encourage imaginative play and both Georgie and Lydia have really been enjoying them. It’s lovely to see the modern Peppa Pig characters combining with the traditional fairytale stories in this way.
We give these toys 5 stars.
